Pixi Beauty: Matte Lipstick and Lip Balm Review

Pixi Beauty Mattelustre Lipstick Rose Naturelle

Hello lovely readers and thank you so much for sticking with me throughout this ‘dry spell’ of blog content. I promise I have so much to talk about, but I’m just trying to balance a commitment to beauty marketing at work with my own personal beauty project!

Anyway, today I am reviewing three members of the Pixi Beauty Mattelustre Lipstick collection and three of the Shea Butter Lip Balms.

Pixi Beauty Mattelustre Lipstick Plum Berry

Truth be told, I decided pretty quickly after applying the lip balms and lipsticks together that they weren’t necessarily the ideal combination – the balm was so hydrating that it shifted the matte lipstick pretty quickly and left the lips shiny at all times.

Having said that, you could of course apply the balm in advance to give the lips a tint of colour initially and allow the consistency to settle before applying a coat of lipstick.

The balm itself is super hydrating thanks to the addition of shea butter and vitamin E; both have been included in this skin-loving formulation to help hydrate and protect the lips. While the tinted coverage is fantastic – not too translucent, but certainly wearable on it’s own for those days when lipstick application is one step too far.

Available for just £8, I would definitely recommend trying this product. Of the three shades I tried (Ripe Raspberry, Sweet Peach and Pixi Pink), I would have to say that my favourite is Sweet Peach, the balm pictured at the top of this post. It provides the lips with a gorgeous but natural wash of colour.

Pixi Beauty Mattelustre Bitten Rose

I can’t stress ENOUGH how much I love the new Pixi Mattelustre Lipstick formulation.

Besides the fact that it includes peptides, hyaluronic acid, vitamin c and vitamin e (hooray, a matte lipstick which nourishes), this lip treat comes in a selection of gorgeous colours.

I tested Rose Naturelle, Bitten Rose and Plum Berry, and to say that I’ve been wearing the first choice 5 days a week since would probably be an underestimation.

I LOVE THE NEUTRAL TONE, especially with a coat of nude lip gloss on-top.

I was so surprised to find that even when the matte lipstick had dried down, I’d had my breakfast, drank some tea and returned to the mirror in 2 hours time, that the lipstick had ‘tinted’ my lips, but left them looking REALLY smooth.

There’s no icky ‘tacky’ feeling as this is a traditional bullet lipstick, but the matte finish is just as impressive as a liquid lipstick… I’m obsessed.

For £14, you really can’t go wrong.
