By now, you all know me well enough to appreciate that one day I can wear ‘no makeup, makeup’ and the next I’ll be wearing a full face of unicorn get-up… and today is no exception.
I was eager to try out two new products which complimented the look I had in-mind and can’t wait to share my thoughts on both today, but first, here’s a breakdown of every product used to create this look!
Face – Kat Von D Foundation, Tarte Shape Tape Concealer, Laura Mercier Translucent Setting Powder, Sleek MakeUp Solstice Highlighter, Tarte Cosmetics Blush in Blushing Bride.
Eyes – Urban Decay Full Spectrum Palette, Dust & Dance Glitter in Poseidon, Eylure False Lashes, INGLOT Pink Matte Metallic Lipstick, Urban Decay Moondust Palette, Urban Decay Troublemaker Mascara.
Brows – Soap and Glory Brow Kit.
Lips – Lime Crime Matte Metallic Lipstick in Posh and Diamond Crushers Lipstick in Trip.
First Impressions – Tarte Cosmetics Blush in ‘Blushing Bride’
It’s safe to say that I’m not really a ‘blush’ girl, unless the shade has a cool tone to it, so this compact is a little out of my comfort zone.
To be honest, I only purchased it because it was part of a bundle offer; having previously tried the blush in ‘Celebrated’, I knew the formulation was fantastic – it’s extremely buildable and easy to blend.
Having said that, when applying this product today I did feel a little clownish. The colour did remind me of the old blush we all had in our makeup bags when we were teenagers and I must admit, I think I will only be using this on ‘special occasions’ and accompanying it with vibrant looks.
Granted, when the product was teamed with bright eye makeup and a bold lip, it didn’t look out of place, I just wouldn’t opt for it on a daily basis.
First Impressions – Lime Crime Diamond Crushers in Trip
First things first, please remember that this product is a LIP TOPPER and will not deliver dramatic pigment without a base shade.
Today, I decided to apply a layer of the Lime Crime Matte Metallic Lipstick in Posh – a deep purple shade – as my base.
Upon first application, I wasn’t ‘wowed’ by the results – the Diamond Crusher lip topper looked vibrant but not as ‘unicorn-like’ as the images I’d seen online.
However, three coats in and I was OBSESSED with the finished result… an iridescent and holographic purple shimmer, with blue flecks throughout.
In fact, I don’t think I’ve seen such a bold lipstick before… to-date.
Sadly, the matte-metallic nature does come at a slight price… the formulation (while not ‘drying’) feels reasonably dry on the lips, which means that throughout the day your lips aren’t going to feel luxurious and hydrated.
On the flip side, the colour makes up for this, as does the long-lasting wear. In fact, you can expect it to see you through multiple drinks, eating and a few hours, at least, without the need to reapply – something which really did amaze me.
I’d 100% recommend the Lime Crime Lip Topper.
For fans of pink blushes, this Tarte Amazonian Clay Blush IS a good choice, but I’m just not loving the warm colour against my skin-tone (personal preference!)
