The Blonde Brow Lowdown – NYX Cosmetics Eyebrow Gel

NYX Eyebrow Gel

After recently refreshing my hair from orange to blonde (a transition colour), I knew that I could no longer get away with a dark brow… and that’s when the hunt for a blonde brow product began.

Granted, I was a huge fan of the Anastasia Beverly Hills Pomade for a long time, but having ordered one colour online and receiving a very different shade in the past, I didn’t want the same situation to happen again… plus, I was really eager to find a high-street alternative which was not only the perfect colour, but also left my brows looking SHARP.

That’s where the NYX Cosmetics Eyebrow Gel comes into play.

I was originally tempted to try the NYX Pomade, however, when I looked at it in-store, the formulation had dried out A LOT, which is why the gel struck my fancy.

Upon first impressions, I wasn’t sure how I felt about the gel – I’d opted for a blonde shade and it didn’t really look ‘blonde’ on my brows, more a mousey brown.

The formulation also dried out quite quickly, which meant that you had to get the brow perfect initially, otherwise, it was a challenge to reshape.

I suppose it’s the waterproof nature which makes the product so resilient when applied. In fact, the dried result is a little ‘hairspray’ like, which isn’t necessarily a bad thing (it definitely keeps my brows in place all day), it was just a little unexpected at first!

Now that I’ve used the product a few times and got more used to it, I’m pretty chuffed with the finished result.

I do like to go in and touch-up patches with a blonde powder after the initial application, but generally speaking, it shapes my brows perfectly and leaves them looking reasonably natural… it’s also a bit of a bargain and retails at Boots UK for £6!
