Sunday Review: Mac ‘Boldy Bare’ Lip Liner and ‘Velvet Teddy’ Matte Lipstick

Mac Boldly Bare Lip Liner

I think I’ve finally discovered the ultimate lip liner and lipstick combination – the Mac Cosmetics Boldy Bare lip liner and Velvet Teddy lipstick.

After standing at the Mac counter in John Lewis for about an hour, I finally selected these two products (after testing every nude lipstick on the back of my hand and narrowing down the numerous favourites I had acquired).

The Mac Boldy Bare lip liner has a lovely orange pop, with subtle pink undertones – ideal for creating pink, peachy, nude or orange lip looks. It provides a smooth application and is perfect for over-dramatising the size of the lips, without creating that obvious fake lip-line. It perfectly blends into soft matte lipstick with ease and leaves the lips feeling nourished (whether you choose to cover the entire surface area of the lips or just outline).

Mac Velvet Teddy Matte Lipstick

Velvet Teddy is an ABSOLUTELY GORGEOUS lipstick. The texture of the Mac matte lipstick range is EVERYTHING and this specific shade last for ages, fading out gently when eating and drinking.

The colour is slightly warmer (pinker) than the lip liner, but is a pleasant mixture of peachy, pink and orange tones – the perfect nude colour. It’s surprisingly moisturising for a matte lipstick but creates a really soft finish… my lips almost looked like I had botox where the lipstick created a surprising ‘plumping’ effect.

It goes without saying that both products receive a huge thumbs up from me.

To show you the end results, here’s two very different looks created using them: a very natural makeup look with a popping nude lip and a dramatic look, with big flicks, a smokey water line and a subtle lip to suit.
