Seeking: Heavy-Full Coverage Foundation

I need your help!

I’ve been using the Revlon Colorstay Foundation for a long time now, but I’m looking to switch up my make-up routine by introducing a new foundation.

My existing pot is almost empty, so I would really appreciate all of your advice as soon as possible!

A little background information – I have tried most high-street foundations and a number of high-end products, including Mac Studio Fix.

I have combination skin which needs heavy coverage because I’m still battling acne and scarring of the face. My skin is also extremely pale, so as a general rule, the palest foundation across every range is normally too dark – besides the two I have just mentioned.

Therefore, I require a good long-lasting, pale foundation which will nicely blend with my Nars Radiant Creamy Concealer and Mac Studio Fix Powder Plus Foundation.

I’ve been tempted by the Estée Lauder foundation (above) for a long time now, and  I know a number of you will rate this product – I just need to know that it is worth the large price-tag before investing.

Please leave your advice in the comment space below and follow my blog for beauty advice, tips and tricks.

  1. I would recommend the Estée Lauder double wear. I’m quite pale and the have a shade that suits my colouring.
As Desperately Seeking Lifestyle said, a little goes a long way.
Debenhams and Boots usually have 10% off every couple of months which takes the sting out of the price a little. x

  2. I have also used the revlon colorstay for a long time, love it! Every once in a while I will use the Stila Poreless Putty Perfector. It gives really good coverage but it only comes in 5 shades, which is unfortunate.

  3. Hi Kim, I would highly recommend Younique’s liquid foundation. It’s perfect for combination to oily skin. Provides a silky coverage that dries to a powdery finish. It does not leave a cake finish or feel heavy on your face. However I admit that it’s extremely difficult to keep in stock. It’s been on back order frequently, but I’ve been told that is currently being worked on. I am a Younique presenter and would be happy to help you color match and help you get your hands on one if you decide you’re interested. It’s $39 + tax/shipping. Totally worth it. Ping me if I can help! xo Best, Shar

  4. i would very highly recommend Kat Von D’s Lock It Tattoo liquid foundation. I purchased it and let me tell you it covers EVERYTHING!! i will be doing a review on it soon. i also purchased the concealer due to the fact that both it and the liquid foundation is meant to cover tattoos and the concealer is amazing! Its pretty pricey but well worth it if you want something thats truly full coverage. and a very little goes a LONG LONG way. like half a pump little. so most likely it will last you forever.

      1. Yes doll! They have a pretty good range with 19 shades to choose from. And considering Kat Von D is rather light herself I believe you will find your shade. I Would suggest going into Sephora instead of ordering it online to shade match

      2. Oh No!! Well at least you know you need the lightest shade. They have 2 shades that are very light but look similar. They have detailed descriptions under each of the undertones on the website.

  5. Chanel’s Perfection Lumiere Velvet could be a lovely one to look into. It’s supposed to smooth out any uneven parts of the skin. It also feels incredibly light so it has that no-foundation feeling but it has really good coverage. It says on the leaflet that it is best suited to normal and combination skins so it should work wonderfully for you. I have it myself but since my skin is dry I prefer something more dewy but I still love the foundation. It’s a favourite! Luckily with high-end make-up you can get samples from their counters. A foundation is something which is always worth investing in, I believe. I hope you find something which works for you. 🙂

  6. I love Revlon Colorstay, Estee Lauder Doublewear and L’Oreal Infallible Matte. I have never had a problem with caking with any of these…a little goes a long way. If you go to an Estee Lauder counter get them to put it on you and ask for a sample to take away. Their samples last about a week, possibly more so you can get a good idea if you like it or not. I apply mine with either a Beauty Blender or flat top kabuki brush and it looks great with both. I have super pale skin and Double Wear has a brilliant shade range.x

  7. The NARS All Day Luminous Weightless Foundation is serious coverage by super lightweight. The shades are pretty great too. Around the same price point as Double Wear but less heavy feeling. May be worth going to a counter and giving it a test?
Other suggestion would be the Double Wear Maximum Cover and use it to conceal only the problem areas. X

  8. Try Illamasqua foundations. You can buy them from and they deliver to UK. Illamasqua makes their products for professional use, so their foundations at the highest full coverage and are not very pricey.
