Does the Urban Decay ‘Distortion’ Glitter Liner live up to my expectations?

So, after falling in love with the Urban Decay Glitter Liner in the shade ‘Amp’ – a tealy colour – I knew Distortion would be the next choice for me.

Urban Decay Distortion GlitterI’d seen the iridescent, sparkling glitter on one of my favourite makeup artists (Belle Jorden) and knew I wanted to also create a dramatic wing by combining white liner with a thick layer of glitter.

Truth be told, more applications were required with Distortion, in comparison to Amp, but that’s naturally to be expected due to the ‘see-through’ nature of this glitter… it was never going to pack the same punch of colour.

However, when a few layers have been applied – wow, this glitter sparkles in the sunlight and FLAWLESSLY compliments a white base. *You’re going to want to stand by a bright window all day and dazzle your colleagues – I certainly did*

Urban Decay Distortion Glitter LinerThe best thing is, it also looks great on it’s own, thanks to the mixture of green, pink, silver and numerous other shades.

Yesterday, I decided to apply it on top of a neutral base (a half-cut crease using a shade from the Anastasia Beverly Hills Modern Renaissance palette) to show you guys that this product can be manipulated in various ways… it’s 100% worth the £15 price-tag!

So, with all of the above considered, which look do you prefer – a half-lid, scattered application of glitter along the cut-crease or an intricate flick?

I personally prefer the flick – it’s so easy to create if you’ve nailed the initial wing shape!

And on that note – who would like to see an eyeliner tutorial? I’ve been meaning to film one for SUCH a long time, but I have SO many products to review for you guys still… let me know!

Pixi Beauty – Hello Rose! Review

Happy Sunday everyone!

I’ve just made a list of the outstanding reviews I’m yet to write/products I haven’t reviewed yet, and WOW, it’s fair to say you should be hearing a lot from me in the next few weeks!

I finally got around to testing the gorgeous Hello Rose! Set that the Pixi Beauty UK team sent me (eee!) and it’s completely lived up to my expectations.

Step 1 – Glow Booster

I NEVER normally use liquid highlighters, so it speaks for itself that I have integrated this Pixi by Petra product into my daily makeup routine. It’s extremely easy to apply, the texture is silky smooth and it can be applied as sparsely or heavily as you like!

I’m still to combine it with my tinted moisturiser for a full-face shine (I’ll definitely be trying this), but have loved applying it to the tip of my nose, cupids bow and cheeks so far!

Step 2 – Beauty Blush Duo

Okay, so half of this product is a deep rose blush and the other side is a creamy highlighter.

In the pot, the highlighter looks quite matte, so I didn’t expect the ‘extreme shine’ I usually go for…  but looks can be deceiving.

It’s SO shimmery, with golden flecks and a sparkling cream tone which I haven’t found in a highlighter EVER before. The gorgeous colour combination naturally blended into my skin but still produced the ‘pop’ of drama I was hoping for!

The other half, a rose blush, isn’t as pink as I’d first anticipated. In fact, the browny-pink tone means that there is really no need to apply a bronzer or contour beneath this product, as it tends to act as an ‘all-in-one’.

Step 3 – Liplift Max

I’m in LOVE with this gloss…

I didn’t actually realise that it was a plumping gloss before I tried it, so I was really surprised when I felt a tingling, tea tree sensation. Whilst boosting the volume of the lips, the gloss also has a brown tint, which means that you can apply it on it’s own for a more natural look OR with a lipstick beneath it (I’m wearing the Kat Von D Lolita matte lipstick beneath this in my video).

As a whole, I’m really impressed by this set!

Fiery New Hair & Fiery Makeup Tutorial

Hi everyone, I’m sorry it’s been a while… I’ve been busy filming some new YouTube tutorials for you! I’d love it if you could subscribe to my channel.

You’ll notice my fiery new hair – I LOVE orange but I was also tempted by the idea of getting something that blended fiery shades together… and my hairdresser did a smashing job (if I say so myself).

Anyway, when I got home, I immediately wanted to create a fiery makeup look to match, so decided to blend ‘Calavera’ (yellow) and ‘Seize’ (red) from my new Urban Decay Full Spectrum Palette (I’ll be reviewing this soon) along the upper and lower crease.

For the lid, I combined ‘Jones’ (an Urban Decay shade) with some orange tones from my trusty Morphe 35OS palette – I also blended all of these shades along the lower lash line.

And of course, I wasn’t going to stop there.

With bold eye makeup and bold hair comes… you guessed it, a matching, bold orange lip – this time provided by a gorgeous, matte KIKO Cosmetics lipstick (they sent me this a while ago but I can’t remember the specific shade, sorry!)

What do you guys think?

Review: Gerard Cosmetics ‘Dreamweaver’ Hydra Matte Metallic Liquid Lipstick

Gerard Cosmetics Dreamweaver Hydra Matte Metallic Lipstick

Okay, so I bought the Gerard Cosmetics Hydra Matte Metallic Lipstick in the shade ‘Dreamweaver’ many months ago with high expectations as I LOVE their standard matte liquid lipsticks. Only to be slightly disappointed, if I’m honest.

I hate sharing negative reviews and I’m still happy with this (very old) look I managed to achieve using Dreamweaver (below)… I just want to share some honest advice for anyone planning to purchase this product.

Gerard Cosmetics Dreamweaver Hydra Matte Metallic LipstickTo start with, It’s about £11.50, which really can’t be faulted for a liquid lipstick.

I don’t know if it was a poor colour selection on my part, and I certainly can’t speak for the rest of the collection, but I found that ‘Dreamweaver’ looked nothing like the online lipstick swatch when applied with no base, became thick in consistency after a few applications and wore away from the inner lip quickly after a few sips of drink.

I didn’t find that it packed the ‘glimmering, bold’ punch of colour I hoped it would – I knew the colour would be neutral, but the metallic nature suggested it would look a little stronger.

The odd thing is, although not the best liquid lipstick, the formulation is ideal for a base layer on the eyes – I like to apply this, let it dry and add some sparkling Mac pigment on top. So, while it didn’t meet my high expectations as a lipstick, I HAVE found alternative uses for this product.

It also won’t deter me from purchasing other products from the Gerard Cosmetics range… I’m definitely a little obsessed with the flavoured Fixing Sprays!

LOVE AT FIRST SIGHT | URBAN DECAY HEAVY METAL GLITTER LINER

Urban Decay Heavy Metal Glitter Liner

OH MY GOD I HAVE JUST DISCOVERED A BRAND NEW, ABSOLUTE FAVOURITE PRODUCT – the Urban Decay Heavy Metal Glitter Liner.

I want to wear it everyday… is it acceptable to bathe in glitter?

But seriously, I’m wearing the shade ‘Amp’ in the picture above and I’ve never found a glitter with such a beautiful mix of colour flecks, long-lasting hold, easy applicator and… fairly affordable price tag!

To create this look, I blended a subtle layer of cream-brown eyeshadow along the crease, applied a layer of the Kat Von D Tattoo Liner in ‘Trooper’, covered the black eyeliner in the Urban Decay Glitter Liner and finished the eye look by popping on a set of Eylure lashes!

Urban Decay Glitter Liner

This liner is a 100% MUST-HAVE product if you like glitter (which I’m hoping you all do as much as me).

There are so many shades to choose from, including a stunning, irredescent Unicorn-like shade and standout pink/purple tones. Not forgetting the staple gold and silver glitter.

One thing is for sure… I’ll definitely be investing in some more colours and reviewing for you guys in the (near) future!

Review: Stila Cosmetics Magnificent Metals Eyeshadow with Primer in ‘Gilded Gold’

stila cosmetics magnificent metals eyeshadow with primer

I LOVE gold, glittery makeup, so when I found the incredible Stila Cosmetics Magnificent Metals Eyeshadow with Primer at a discount cosmetics store for 1/3 of the price (usually £33/purchased for £13)… I grabbed that product from the shelf and ran to the tills!

In hindsight, I should have grabbed them all, because I’m beyond impressed with the results.

stila cosmeticsWhen the primer and creamy eyeshadow pigment are combined in the mini mixing tray, a silky-smooth liquid appears.

Whether you resort to finger or brush application (I prefer the latter), the foil-like liquid is easy to apply and leaves the lids feeling extremely light-weight – there’s none of that ‘heavy-lid’ sensation associated with applying regular glitters with eyeshadow primer.

Not quite a glitter, but not just a liquid eyeshadow – the reflective impact that this product delivers is INCREDIBLE… and it really does stands the test of time (I, in fact, tried wearing this product on my lips at the same time to see what would happen and it didn’t budge for the entire day).

stila cosmeticsFor this specific look, I applied the Stila Magnificent Metals Eyeshadow in the gorgeous shade ‘Gilded Golden’ on top of a half lid of concealer – creating an even bolder impact, especially when blended with a smokey brown eyeshadow.

And if gold isn’t your colour, fear not – there are 10 STUNNING shades to choose from, ranging from dusty rose to cobalt.

Did I mention… I’m officially a Pixi Beauty Brand Ambassador?

Pixi Beauty Brand Ambassador

We all know and love Pixi by Petra.

I’m absolutely thrilled to announce that I am officially a UK Brand Ambassador.

You can imagine my shock at even the notion of such a credible beauty brand being interested in joining forces with someone as ‘micro’ as me… it’s safe to say that I’m a little overwhelmed and so thankful for all of your support (without you, this wouldn’t be possible).

For my first Pixi box, the team have sent me ‘Hello Rose!’ – a 3-part makeup kit including a Liquid Illuminator, Blusher & Highlighter, and Glossy Lip Plumper… I’m so excited to try everything!

Whether I try them individually or review the trio together, I’m still undecided, but I’ll definitely be sharing my honest opinions on each product with all of you!

Stay tuned!

Review: Makeup Revolution ‘Regal’ Retro Luxe Matte Lip Kit

Makeup Revolution Retro Luxe Lip Kit in Regal

I’ve seen a lot of reviews claiming that the Makeup Revolution Retro Luxe Matte Lip Kits are a near dupe of the Kylie Cosmetics range, so I had to give this product a try.

I’m actually REALLY impressed…

It goes without saying that £6 for a lip liner and matching lipstick is an incredible investment – especially considering the fantastic pigmentation and matte texture provided by this duo.

The lip liner is extremely creamy; it blunts faster than I would like, but that much can be expected when a liner offers flawless application. When a layer of matte lipstick is applied on top of this base, this ‘Regal’ duo make a bold impression. It’s extremely fast drying nature helps this lipstick stay true to it’s ‘matte’ label.

This is, in fact, the closest drugstore match to a high-end matte lipstick that I have stumbled upon so far (think Lime Crime Cosmetics ‘Velvetines’ with slightly less hold).

Colour choices?

‘Regal’ is a vibrant red shade with a slightly orange tint – there are 7 different shades available, ranging from creamy browns to an intense black.

Any downfalls?

The only downside is that the lipstick does lift when drinking and eating – the centre of my mouth was left bare after drinking my morning tea which left me slightly disappointed, but not discouraged (there had to be one slight issue!).

Will I repurchase?

I’m definitely going to be visiting Superdrug again to purchase a few different Retro Luxe Matte Kits – I’m particularly interested in the shades ‘Echelon’ and ‘Noble’. There are also some lip gloss and metallic kits which I spotted on their website which I would LOVE to test!

Maybelline Eraser Eye Concealer Review

Maybelline Eraser Concealer

You guys know how much I love being a member of the Maybelline Squad… the team are constantly sending me new releases and it’s SO exciting!

I’d heard so much positive feedback about the Maybelline Anti-Age Eraser Concealer and it’s concealing capabilities – not forgetting the incredible price-tag – so it was finally time to put it to the test.

The shade ‘light’ is probably a little darker than I would usually choose (thanks to my near-translucent skin tone) and I’m used to the paleness of the Nars Radiant Concealer in Chantilly – but when topped with a coat of powder, this concealer blends nicely into my foundation and subtly reduces any discolouration of the skin (redness and purple tones).

The texture is gorgeous (silky smooth) and although it takes a while to release a good amount of liquid from the spongey tip, I love the fact that the concealer doesn’t dry out due to this constant regenerating process.

The sponge is great for general coverage (face and under-eyes) but less practical for one of my favourite uses of concealer… applying it with a fine brush along the lid to create a sweeping cut-crease.

Having said that, if you click the tube enough times, enough formulation is released to coat a brush… it’s just a little tricky to transfer this from sponge-brush.

The consistency is fairly thick, perhaps a little lighter than I would usually choose as I love HEAVY coverage but great if you’re looking for a really natural, blended finish.

Overall, with the incredibly reasonable price-tag and drugstore factor considered, this product gains my seal-of-approval.

Rather than completely substituting the Nars concealer from my makeup routine, I have been interchanging between the two – dependant on the type of coverage/skin finish I’m looking for on the day!
